Why Social Media Works for Small or New Business

Small or new businesses know how difficult it is to make an impact on a limited marketing budget. That’s why Social Media makes so much sense. Here’s why.
1. It’s free. You can sign up for Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, Blogger, YouTube, LinkedIn and MySpace accounts for free as long as you have an email address.
2. It’s accessible. You don’t need a big agency to navigate media for you. You can either do it yourself, or hire a smaller Social Media management company to train you or do it for you.
3. It’s a great fit. Big brands use Social Media to better engage with their clients. They create a more approachable persona with Facebook pages and tweets. Small businesses are all about approachability and engagement. They’ve been doing it from storefronts for years.
4. It’s measurable. Social Media is one of the most measurable ways of tracking customers. You can tell where they are coming from and what particular blog post, discussion or tweet attracted them.
5. It’s growing. While Search/Decision Engine Optimization on your website is still the strongest means of drawing visitors, Social Media, such as links from Facebook pages and tweets, is rapidly closing the gap.
If you have the time to learn about Social Media, get started today. If you have more money than time get in touch with a Social Media management company and ask about training or monthly rates and what they include. Either way, now is the time for small and new businesses to break into Social Media to make the most out of those limited marketing dollars.
